Homemade Dog Food for my CALIDOGs

As you already know, I have two dogs - Pepe, the French bulldog, and Luna, the Weimaraner. Luna is four years old, and Pepe is just a one-year-old pup. Both of them, unfortunately, have allergies and have very sensitive stomachs. I try to feed them different types of dog food from many big-name brands, but none of them helped.

Recently, I have decided to make food for dogs by myself. And it finally worked. Now my dogs don’t have digestion and stomach problems. They’re full of energy, they love the new food, and their skin and furs look great!

I am a happy dog mom now and I have decided to share one of my recipes with you.

For protein, I use ground turkey, chicken, or lean beef. Fish is also a very good ingredient for dogs, but Luna has an allergy to food, which contains fish, so I try to avoid fish.

For grain, I use brown rice or quinoa. I also add vegetables: carrots, zucchini, broccoli, or cauliflower. Always add 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil, it is a healthy fat, which is very good for the skin and furs of your four-legged friends.

Here is one of my recipes:

1 1/2 cups brown rice

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 1/5 pounds ground turkey

3 cups chopped spinach

2 shredded carrots

1 shredded broccoli

1/2 cup peas

Directions: Cook rice according to package instructions, set aside. Cook ground turkey with olive oil in a large stockpot until browned, making sure to crumble the turkey as it cooks. Stir in spinach, carrots, zucchini, peas, and brown rice and mix all ingredients. Let them cool completely.

I usually store the dog food in a refrigerator and use it for 1-2 days.

Make sure, you use filtered clean water, just to avoid chemicals, which could bring harm to your pup.

And add vitamins or nutrients to your handmade dog food.

How much and when should you feed your dog? This will vary from dog to dog, is  For Luna, 75 lb Weim, - 2 meals a day each containing 3 cups of food.
